Congratulations on your engagement! It’s now time to start thinking about one of the most important aspects of your wedding day – your wedding dress. You may be wondering when you should start shopping for your dream dress, and how long the process will take. To help you out, we’ve put together a timeline for buying your wedding dress!
9-12 Months Before the Wedding:
It’s a good idea to start shopping for your wedding dress at least 9-12 months before the big day. This gives you plenty of time to find the dress of your dreams, have it tailored to fit you perfectly, and make any necessary alterations. You’ll also want to factor in time for shipping and any unexpected delays.
During this time, you can start by researching different styles, fabrics, and designers. Make your bridal appointment, and don’t be afraid to try on different styles to see what looks best on your body type!
Just for reference, all of the gowns we carry are cut-to-order, meaning that the fabric won’t be cut until the order is placed. Rush orders can be accommodated with some additional fees!
5-7 Months Before the Wedding:
By this point, you should have found your dream dress and placed an order. Make sure to factor in enough time for alterations, which can take a few months depending on the complexity of the changes.
When you pick up your dress from the bridal boutique, make sure to inspect it thoroughly to ensure that it’s in perfect condition. You’ll also want to try it on with your wedding shoes and accessories to make sure everything works together.
3-4 Months Before the Wedding:
At this point, your wedding is just a few months away, and it’s time to schedule your first fitting. During your fitting, the seamstress will make any necessary adjustments to ensure that your dress fits you perfectly. You’ll also want to start thinking about your undergarments, shoes, and accessories.
1-2 Months Before the Wedding:
Your final fitting should take place about a month before your wedding. This is when you’ll try on your dress with all of your accessories and make sure that everything fits perfectly.
You’ll also want to make sure that your bridesmaids have their dresses, and that they fit properly. If any alterations are needed, make sure to schedule them in advance.
The Week Before the Wedding:
In the week leading up to your wedding, you’ll want to make sure that your dress is pressed and ready to go. Keep it hanging in a safe place, away from any pets or children.
On the Big Day:
Finally, it’s the big day! When you put on your dress, take a deep breath and enjoy the moment. You’ve put so much time and effort into finding the perfect dress, and now it’s time to show it off to the world.
Shopping for your wedding dress can be a fun and exciting experience, but it’s important to start early and give yourself plenty of time. By following this timeline, you can ensure that you have the dress of your dreams and that it fits perfectly on your big day.
